Research

Black Tusk continues to be on the forefront of digital healthcare transformation through frequent participation in national and international research projects. We are developing innovative and patient-centered applications for the healthcare sector in synergy with an extensive network of partners from the healthcare industry and various national and international research institutions. In these projects we provide both the interoperability infrastructure and software with our in-house FHIR components, as well as custom implementation and data engineering services to ensure all relevant data are captured securely, completely, accurately, and uniformly in FHIR resources using (nationally and internationally established) code systems.

Recently we have participated in the following research projects:

  • MISSION: The automated interpretation of microbiological results
  • PRODIAL: Personalization of Hemodialysis Treatment

Beyond that, we also help to realize eHealth relevant research topics in the context of bachelor and master theses:

  • Possibility of implementing quality management in projects according to ISO 13485 with a focus on agile development and distributed virtual teams - Aleli Isabella Helena Gebhart - (Link)
  • Transformation of wearable sleep data into FHIR - Armin Griebler - (Link)
  • Transformation of the microbiological ELGA-CDA laboratory finding into FHIR - Maximilian Ossana - (Link)

Development

In addition to our research activities, we also offer contract development. For this we use our expertise in ReactJS for frontend development, Monkey C for wearables, .Net or Python for backend development. We also offer post-processing projects as part of our portfolio. Regardless of the TechStack, we work according to the current standards in quality management for medical products, both for contract development and for our in-house product development. With our adherence to harmonized standards and the current state of the art, we are able to ensure the highest quality level for our customers and partners. The document management system of our partner HSE365AT also helps us to always keep an overview of the controlled documentation of our projects.

In recent years we have launched various applications on different platforms. In addition to the re-launch of ProSports as a web application under the new product name Implays and various wearable apps on the GarminConnectIQ platform, we have developed our new patient app called myHealthDiary. MyHealthDiary is now available in App Store. The app can be used as a companion app for Fiyaware. You can find more information about the apps on our product page. products.
